The Bad News:
I arrived at my voting location about 6:25AM and found a line of about 50 people waiting outside to vote. By 7:45AM, I was able to vote. My location only had 5 polling stations and used the bubble style ballots which were fed into a scanner. There were several people who saw the line and turned around or said they would vote later. Now the wait begins…
I tried some lunch at Seeger’s Deli in Lebanon. The food was definitely good and it felt like a very friendly place to be. I would love to come back here for some of their selection of meat for grilling this summer.
I was also able to try the new “Acapulco Mexican Restaurant” in Lebanon. The food was very typical of mexican restaurants but it is a much needed addition to the restaurant selection in Lebanon.
It seems the slow economy and tightening of discretionary budget’s is causing problems for small businesses here in Lebanon. I think there is even an antique store going out of business downtown. Some better news is the future bowling alley/restaurant/family fun center opening up in the summer at the location of the old “Big Bear” store. Although there is a sign proclaiming the opening of this bowling alley, there is no visible sign that the reconstruction has even started.
Best Dinner/Lunch – Gourmet on Broadway
Gourmet on Broadway offers food with a Mediterranean influence. The quality and taste of the food is always been great. The dinner specials and deserts get the top raves from me. The only complaint I would have is to have more dinner hours. I believe the dinner hours only happen during the summer on Fridays. Lunch seems to be the biggest time frame for business downtown but for residents who rarely antique shop and need something different than fast food for dinner, there are not many options.
Best Breakfast – Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club combines a great menu selection, food, and service. Best menu item is the “Bagel Benedict Arnold”. Second choice when I’m in a “healthier” mood is the “Oatmeal Breakfast”. Definitely gets a little crowded during the weekends around lunch or after church but well worth the wait
Best Fast Food – Skyline Chili
I guess you have to a fan of Cincinnati style chili to eat here but it’s definitely a favorite of mine. I’m glad there is one located in Lebanon. I have had both good and bad service here but the food is always good.
Best Chinese Food – New China
There are a few options for Chinese food in Lebanon and New China has become the favorite.
